SEO for Egyptian businesses: how to show up on Google when customers search

SEO for Egyptian businesses: how to show up on Google when customers search

Search optimisation without the jargon: the technical basics, the Arabic words your customers search with, content, and how to measure results.

When a customer in Cairo or Alexandria needs a service like yours, the first thing they usually do is search Google. If they do not find you on the first page, they end up with your competitor. Search engine optimisation (SEO) is the set of steps that make Google understand your site, trust it and show it to people searching for you. This guide explains the basics in plain language.

Three pillars of Google visibility

  • Technical foundation: can Google reach and understand your pages? Is the site fast, secure and mobile-friendly?
  • Content: do you have pages that genuinely answer your customers' questions in the words they use?
  • Trust: do other sites point to you? Do you have reviews and a verified presence online?

The technical foundation: start here

  • Speed: Google measures page experience with Core Web Vitals. The targets: main content visible within 2.5 seconds, the page responding to taps within 200 milliseconds, and nothing jumping around while it loads.
  • Mobile first: Google mainly evaluates the mobile version of your site, so it must be complete, not cut down.
  • HTTPS: a security certificate is a basic requirement today.
  • Sitemap and robots.txt: they help Google discover your pages.
  • A unique title and description for every page: this is what shows in search results. The same title on every page confuses both Google and visitors.
  • Structured data (schema): code that tells Google this page is a service with a price, an article with an author, or a set of FAQs, so it can display it more richly.
  • Bilingual sites: hreflang tags tell Google which version to show to Arabic searchers and which to English ones.

Keywords: how do your customers actually search?

You call your service "integrated digital solutions"; your customer types "website for my company" or "website design price". The gap between your language and theirs may be why you are missing from the results.

  • Listen to your customers: which words do they use in calls and WhatsApp messages?
  • Mind colloquial and formal Arabic: Egyptians search both ways, and sometimes with English words written in Arabic letters.
  • Look at search intent: "what is SEO" is searched by someone learning; "SEO company in Cairo" by someone ready to buy.
  • Add the location: "dental clinic in Maadi" is less competitive and closer to a purchase than "dental clinic".

Content: answer questions before they are asked

Every main service deserves its own page explaining what it is, who it is for, how it works, roughly what it costs and how long it takes, followed by real FAQs. A two-paragraph page cannot compete with a page that answers everything the customer needs.

A blog helps you appear for informational searches such as "how much does a website cost", then leads the reader to the service page. Write about the questions your customers actually ask, not generic copied topics.

Trust: what others say about you

  • Google Business Profile: essential for any business with local customers. We explain the setup in our Google Business Profile guide.
  • Reviews: ask happy clients for a review after every project.
  • Links from real sites: business directories, partners, local press and professional associations. One link from a trusted site beats hundreds of bought links.
  • Consistent details: business name, address and phone in the same format everywhere.

A practical plan for the first 90 days

  1. Month one: connect Search Console and Analytics, fix technical problems (speed, broken pages, duplicate titles), and create your Google Business Profile.
  2. Month two: rewrite the main service pages using the words customers search with, and add real FAQs to each service.
  3. Month three: publish the first articles answering customer questions, ask for reviews, and list the business in trusted directories.

After that, the work becomes monthly: new content, tracking the numbers, and improving pages that have started to appear but have not reached page one yet.

What to avoid

  • Buying links in bulk: it can lead to a Google penalty that is hard to recover from.
  • Stuffing keywords unnaturally into your text.
  • Copying content from other sites, or machine-translating it without review.
  • Believing anyone who promises page one within a week.

How to measure results

Connect your site to Google Search Console and Google Analytics. Track how often you appear in search, the clicks, the queries you appear for, and most importantly, how many search visitors contacted you or bought. Real results usually start within three to six months and build up after that.

The bottom line

SEO is neither magic nor a trick: it is a technically sound site, content that answers your customers' questions in their language, and trust built over time. If you want to know where your site stands, read about our SEO service, or ask us for an initial review.
